In many parts of South Dakota, a shed permit is typically only necessary if the shed exceeds 120 square feet. Given that a 12×20 prefab shed is 240 square feet, it’s likely that you’ll need a permit. However, it’s important to verify this information by consulting your local regulations for specific requirements.
A 12×20 shed can comfortably fit a lawn mower, shelving, garden tools, and a workbench. You may be able to fit a snowblower and additional lawn care equipment if you arrange your tools a bit tighter.
