Location of Shed

The physical location of the shed is an important factor to consider. Being aware of property lines is essential. Most regulations require sheds to be set back at least 3-5 feet from property lines to provide room for maintenance and comply with fire safety codes. Additionally, if the shed is near other structures, it should be positioned at least 6 feet away to ensure safety and accessibility.

Construction Plans

Construction plans may be required in some cases. The construction plan would have to show the shed’s location, size, and any other additional details. When creating construction plans, make sure the plans are detailed enough to understand without the person needing to consult you for more information.

If you have any questions about including construction plans in your permit application, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Intended Use

The intended use of a shed can sometimes be impact permit regulations. Storage and workshop sheds are often allowed without further steps. If a shed is intended to be used for a habitable space, this may cause extra steps to be taken with stricter regulations.

This includes ensuring that all wiring and plumbing installations meet local building codes and safety standards. Proper permits and inspections help ensure that these installations are properly installed and inspected to enhance the value and usability of your shed.

I ordered the 8x12 shed. QSB provided assistance with the design layout (window location, paint info, etc.) and returned all my calls and emails promptly. The design program on their website is easy to use. The shed was built and stored at their site until I was ready for delivery - which helped me stage the installation time. The shed was exactly as described and has excellent construction with good attention to details. The price was fair and reasonable. Delivery was on time and the installation was professional and properly completed. The people at QSB were very friendly, professional and easy to work with. I'm 100% satisfied and I highly recommend them!

We ordered a custom shed last fall, communication with the team was excellent throughout the process and the shed was ready for delivery a little over a month- month and a half later. The delivery and setup process was smooth and we were very happy with our shed once delivered, quality seemed fantastic, and I don't think I could've built one better myself. Now it's been a little over a year, and I had neglected writing a review before now but thought I finally should because our shed recently withstood 100mph winds with no damage whatsoever. The ground anchors held strong and the metal roof remains intact, and I can't say the same for a lot of metal roofs around where I live after the storm. We are very happy with how it has held up, given the weather we get out in the plains. I would 100% recommend if your looking for a shed in South Dakota!

Quality is phenomenal, don't waste your money on a premade box store shed, get one of these. Delivery and set up took only about 1/2 hour and was perfect. Thank you!
